Never Too Early

Angie here with a "Never Too Early" project!  I enjoy creating Christmas/winter projects all through the year so I think it's never too early to create a Christmas card or two!  December 1st is just 14 weeks away and at Red Rubber Designs we have just the stamp sets to get you started and beat that last minute holiday rush!

I chose Snowflake Blocks for today's card set.  I selected my go-to technique of distress inks and water to create the background for the embossed snowflakes.

For my second card, I used the three smaller snowflake blocks and made little tags out of them.

For the sentiment, I sponged a border of Seedless Preserves Distress Ink and embossed Merry Christmas with white EP.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.  I hope you have been inspired to get started on your holiday/winter cards!

Travel Tags Tutorial

Drea here with a fun project using the new travel stamps sold at Red Rubber Designs! As soon as I saw them I was inspired to make these tags using some mixed media and kraft cardstock.

Use an old credit card to apply gesso to some kraft tags. Mine were cut with my Cricut Expression using the Plantin SchoolBook cartridge.

Once the gesso is dry spray with some mists, in whatever colors you'd like, letting the mists pool into eachother.

Using a permanent ink, stamp your image onto the tags once they're dry. I had a couple that were still a little damp, so the image bled a little, but with these tags it still looks great! On the first two, I used the Paris Collage and the Triomphe Collage stamps.

The other tags were stamped with the Tower of Pisa and the Pyramid Collage stamps. The Tower of Pisa image is the one that bled the most, but with the gesso and sprays, looks intentional and more distressed, which is why I left it.

Speaking of distressing, do that to the edges of your tags, and finish the edges with some stitching. I used a zigzag stitch on my sewing machine with some variegated metallic threads, picking up the colors in the tags. Then I just added some grommets to the holes, and tied them together with some fibers. I also added some little travel charms to the tops, like the plane seen here. .

And the little passport that I added here. Thanks for looking and have a great day!

Watercolored Butterfly

Hi There!

Barb here to share a watercolored background card featuring Asian Butterfly. This is just a beautifully detailed butterfly!

The background is just watercolored with powders in blue and purple on watercolor paper.  Then I embossed the Asian Butterly and sentiment with black sparkly embossing powder. I added some twine and sequins and backed the image with black card stock then mounted on blue card base.

This is such a hot technique right now using a watercolor background with a beautiful open spaced image and sentiment. You can check out more amazing images in the Red Rubber Designs shop where if you spend $50 shipping is fast and free! So go check it out!

A closer look

Thanks for stopping by today to check out my project and stop back next
week to see another amazing project from the team!
Happy Stamping!

Rise & Shine

Hello again, friends!  Mynn here again with another card using a beautiful stamp set from the Red Rubber Designs online store!  Today, I'm sharing how to create a beautiful multi-colored and shining background to jazz up your line images.  Take a peek at the completed card...

I used the Rise & Shine stamp set for my image.  I stamped it over the background I created using a fabulous technique I will share at the end of the post.  The patterned paper is from the Rustic Chic paper pad.

To create a similar background, here is what you'll need to do:
  1. Take a clear block or piece of acetate and color random patches with different colored markers.  Start with the lightest color, then work your way up in intensity.
  2. Spritz the colored surface with either glimmer mist or a water bottle.  Make sure to get everything wet, or else the colors won't blend together as well.
  3. Lay your piece of white cardstock onto the colored and spritzed panel and gently hold it in place and rub your finger around the cardstock so the color is transferred evenly.
  4. Allow the paper to dry a bit, then stamp your line image onto the paper.
  5. Trim around your image, mat it (optional), and add it to your project.
Easy, peasy, right?  I LOVE the effect that it gives to a project, and you can mix it up with a whole bunch of different colors, too!

That is all for me today, friends!  I hope you take some time to try this fun technique out--and remember to grab the Rise and Shine stamp set because it is PERFECT to use over your created panels!  A few other stamps that would work are the Peace Be Still set, the Ship Collage stamp, the Butterfly Postage set, and the Buggy Postage stamp set.  I'm sure there are TONS more in the Red Rubber Designs online store, so check it out today!  Until next time, HUGS and happy stamping, friends!
