Art Gave Her Wings Tag

Happy Thursday! Today I'm featuring the Art Gave Her Wings Stamp from Red Rubber Designs, combined with the Victorian Borders Cling Mounted Stamp from my last post, on this elegant blue and gold tag! The image was colored with paints, sprays, and markers, with another layer embossed in gold for the crown, and popped up over a fluffy cloud made from a cotton ball.

I sprayed the background with a little water and blue spray to create the sky. Then I added some bold colors of blue Dylusions Paints along the right and bottom of my tag. To create a mitered border with my stamping, I added a strip of masking tape at a 45 degree angel, before embossing half of my Victorian Borders stamp onto the painted edges. Then I layered it onto my slightly larger blue painted tag, and applied a line of Golden Rod Stickles along the edges.

The sentiment was stamped with black ink, and ART and the grommet embossed in gold.

Here's the result! Thanks for looking!

Happily Grateful

Hello,  Angie here!  Today I am sharing the gorgeous stamp set Happily Grateful.  This set includes a gorgeous butterfly, and a leafy branch along with flowers and leaves.  As soon as I saw this stamp set I started thinking about using the branch and pairing it with a technique that Robin Clendenning shared with some of us back in the fall.

The technique is spray starch on watercolor paper, Brushos (or powdered coloring medium) sprinkled on the paper, then take cling wrap and scrunch it all over the liquid ink.  Let dry completely before lifting cling wrap.  The background will be different every time!

I followed Susie Williams's suggestion and created an entire background sheet with this technique. Even after die cutting the circle I have plenty for future projects.

Using the MISTI I stamped the branch image on the white card base several times to get the rich black coverage, then I glued down the circle and stamped several times on the circle.  The sentiment is one of two sentiments that are included in the Happily Grateful stamp set which can be found in the Red Rubber Designs online store!

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you have great day!

Victorian Thank You Card

I love the Victorian Borders stamp, and have picked it up many times intending to use it, and actually thought that I had, but never did, until now!  I combined it with some other Vintage Inspired Stamps from Red Rubber Designs on a Thank You card.

I began with a sheet of white cardstock and sprayed it with both colors in the Walnut Ink 2-pack Cupcake Spritzers. After it dried, I placed a stencil over it, and sprayed it again with the pink (Cherry Blossom) for a faded Victorian wallpaper look. Then I tore a piece of cream tissue paper, and stamped it with the Vintage Background Unmounted Stamp Set using Palette Inks (Burnt Umber and Belle Rose). I dipped the edges in the watered down brown (Java) spritzer, and when dry, applied it to the background with Tim Holtz' Distress Collage Medium (Vintage).

The rest of the stamping was embossed in an antiqued bronze, using Victorian Borders and the large Thank You Unmounted Stamp.

The flowers were layered and embossed with the Medallions stamp onto an extra sheet of cardstock that I had sprayed with the same two Spritzers. To the flower centers, I applied some Clear Wink of Stella and Glossy Accents.

Finally, I distressed and machine-stitched the edges of my card. Thank you for looking, and have a wonderful 2017!

The New Has Come

Hello, friends!  Welcome to Red Rubber Designs first blog post of the new year!
It seemed fitting to feature the New Creation rubber stamp on my project as we are in the first few days of 2017! A new year is a fresh start, the old has gone the new has come!

For the background, I pulled out a previously created background layer and stamped it with the Background Stripes Rubber Stamp.  Creating my own patterned paper with background stamps saves me time and frustration when creating a card.  Even though I have a great deal of designer paper I find that quite often I don't have markers or inks to match!  I love the look of the distressed stripes and the stamp is a great size, measuring 6" x 4 1/2".

Do you have any goals or "fresh starts" in mind for 2017?  Leave me a comment and let me know! My "fresh start" begins when school starts in August.  I began walking regularly this past August and plan to continue making exercise a priority.  I asked for a tracker for my birthday so I now have added motivation as I track my steps, water intake, how much sleep I am getting, etc.  I am a touch geeky, I love the stats and the fireworks that go off when I meet a goal!!!

Wishing you many blessings as you leave behind the old and pursue the new in 2017!
