Fabulous Framed Faux Mirror Tutorial

Drea here, with a tutorial on how to make this fabulous faux mirror featuring stamps from Red Rubber Designs!

I gave it a cracked and aged effect to go with this vintage tag that I created with some mixed media and plain cardstock.

After cutting a tag from white cardstock, I colored it with some pink, peach, and brown sprays and inks. I did the same for the other layers, using Vintage Background to stamp the bottom layers. Then I used a copper embossing powder to stamp over the layers on the top right with the Floral Collage stamp. I used that same stamp to make the flowers, layering it twice, coloring them with some sprays, and adding a bead to the centers.

I also embossed the buttons that were stamped with the Sew Thoughtful and Sew Thankful stamps. With a peach embossing powder I added the scrolls on top of the tag and along the bottom left with the Aged Ornaments stamp. Then I sprayed some mists to color the tassel, securing the bottom of it with some rows of beads. The embellie on top is actually an old clip-on earring that I inherited from my husband's grandmother.

For the main image I started by decoupaging some layers of cream tissue paper onto white cardstock for some texture. Then I used a dark brown permanent ink to stamp it with the Elegant Beauty stamp, coloring it with some mists. The shoes were embossed and fussy cut, before adding  beads to them, along with the small flowers and corset.

Now we can get to the mirror! Here's what you'll need:

Black Cardstock
Foil
Decoupage Glue
Foam Brush
Piercing tool or Needle
Sandpaper or Nail File
Sprays or Mists
Copper or Bronze Embossing Powder
Black permanent ink
Scissors
Glossy Accents

Start by decoupaging a piece of foil onto black cardstock, applying the glue onto the back and front with a foam brush.

After it's completely dry, use sandpaper or a nail file along the foil, taking bits of it off in some places.

Then use a piercing tool or needle to further distress it with some scratches.

Spray with some mists of your choice. I used the same colors that I used for the rest of the tag.

Again, wait for it to dry before stamping the frame with black permanent ink using the Fabulous Frames stamp. Mine smudged a little, but it's not going to show so it doesn't matter.

Cut out your frame along the outer edges and apply Glossy Accents to the inside. Use embossing powder on white cardstock to stamp the frame again, coloring it with some mists, and fussy cutting it out. Then just glue the frame onto your mirror to finish it up! I hope you'll give it a try!
