Charming Gardens Birthday Card

Hello Stampers! Drea here with a birthday card featuring the Charming Gardens and Charming Gardeners Cling Mounted Rubber Stamps from Red Rubber Designs! The sentiment was stamped with the Darling Unmounted Rubber Stamp using Starry Night Palette Ink.

I started by cutting a window frame from kraft board that measures 3 1/2" X 7" on the outside, making the inner window panes at 2" X 3". Then I covered it with a coat of white gesso using a popsicle stick. Once dry, I applied several coats of paint with a fairly dry brush, waiting for each coat of paint to dry in between coats. Finally, I  lightly went over it with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink.

It's hard to tell by the photo, but I did attach some clear acetate to the back of my frame to complete my window. Then I stamped the garden images onto white cardstock using Burnt Umber Palette Ink, which is permanent, so that I could color my scene with Distress Inks, water, and sprays, and not worry about the images bleeding or blurring. Before attaching my window down, I added a strip of fencing that I got from my border punch.

The background was spritzed with green and blue sprays onto white cardstock, and the bricks were done with a stencil and white gesso, painted with three different shades of grey. I just love these DIY flowers, and colored the pink one with Glimmer Mist, and the one below it with Distress Inks (Shaded Lilac, Peeled Paint, and Mowed Lawn). I also used Shaded Lilac to color the lace, making a loop, before machine stitching it down. Then I had to sprinkle a few vintage buttons around.

Thanks for looking and stopping by today!

To Be Truly Happy

Hello, friends! Today I have created a fun vintage style card featuring "Enjoy the Scenery" from Red Rubber Designs.

I watercolored with Vintage Photo distress ink and Inktense pencils to create a vintage look, then I added ivory fibers and peach pearls to finish off the project.

I love the sentiment in this image.  Our lives are filled with detours we sometimes wish we could avoid but to be truly happy we need to embrace  and enjoy them.

I hope you have a wonderful day and enjoy the scenery along the way!
Angie

Ancient Map Coasters - A Tutorial

These Square 4" Black Coasters from Red Rubber Designs, are so fun and easy to transform for the world traveler in your life! Six come in a pack, but for this tutorial I only used four.

Supplies:

Torn Pieces of Tissue Paper (Kraft, Brown, and Aqua)
Prima Clear Gesso
Old Credit Card
Distress Collage Medium Vintage
Foam Brush
Black Permanent Ink
Antique Bronze Embossing Powder
Rafia
Scrap of Kraft Paper

Directions:

1. Use an old credit card to apply a medium to heavy coat of Prima Clear Gesso.

2. Once dry, use a foam brush to apply a coat of Distress Collage Medium Vintage, and quickly adhere torn pieces of tissue paper to the coasters. Again wait for it to dry, and do the same to the back, overlapping the tissue paper from the front. Once the back is dry, give the front another coat of Distress Collage Medium.

3. Use permanent black ink to stamp the coasters using the Ancient Map Background Unmounted Rubber Stamp.

4. Finish the edges with antique bronze embossing powder. Copper would look great too!

5. Stack coasters, tie with rafia, and add tag, made with the Sweet Goodies Squares Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp. Simply use the same tissue paper technique on a scrap piece of kraft paper, emboss the frame with antique bronze, and stamp the sentiment with red ink. Then attach an eyelet to feed the rafia through.

Here's a closer view of one of the coasters!

I hope you'll give this a try!

1920's Collage

Hello, friends!  Angie here to share the 1920's Collage cling mount rubber stamp today!
You can find a wide variety of beautiful collage stamps at Red Rubber Designs as well as many other themed stamps.

I stamped the image on watercolor paper thinking that I was going to watercolor the scene but in the end, I liked the drama of the black, white and red.

The sentiment is from the cute Say Hello unmounted rubber stamp set.  The sentiment looks like it's made for this image!!!

I might need to remind myself of this sentiment tomorrow as I help our son move into his college dorm!  Right now I am not teary but it might just hit me tomorrow.

Here's a closer look at the fabulous stamp sets featured today:

Thanks so much for stopping by!
