Relax and Fish Card

I hope you're all having a fun and relaxing summer! Red Rubber Designs has a wonderful selection of outdoor/nature stamps, which I combined to create this card using lots of layers, stitching, and texture, using the Relax and Fish Unmounted Stamp as my main focal image!

All of the layers were made from white cardstock colored with sprays and LSG Magicals. The Relax and Fish image was stamped with permanent green, brown, and black inks. Behind it, I stamped the Charming Forest Cling Mounted Stamp in permanent black ink, and coated both pieces with Tim Holtz Distress Collage Medium Vintage, after tearing and curling the edges. The PERFECT addition is the big green button that once belonged to my grandma, which I covered with Distress Embossing Powders (Brushed Corduroy and Vintage Photo), to give the illusion of a trunk and branches coming from the stamped tree below it.

The layer peeking out on top, was first stamped with Magicals to create the tree line with the Mountain Scenery Unmounted Stamp. Then I used some sprays, and once dry, stamped the same image again with permanent brown ink, and also gave it a coat of Distress Collage Medium Vintage.

I used gesso and cheesecloth to create the texture on the background, giving it an aged look with sprays. The rope was also aged with some brown inks, and I created a loop to showcase this vintage leather button that came from my great grandma's button collection.

The banner was made from chipboard colored with LSG Magicals, giving it even more texture.

I was able to relax, just making this card for my brother's birthday, and hope you get to play and relax too with your own stamps!

Flutter By

Hello, friends!  It's hot out there as we are in the middle of the hottest part of the year where I live. Inspired by the heat of summer, I  pulled out my bright Lemon yellow Brusho crystal colors to create several bright projects to share with you today.

This set of cards was super easy to create.  I just sprinkled Brushos Crystal Colors on watercolor paper, spritzed with water and let dry.

When the backgrounds were dry I stamped the gorgeous butterfly and fun sentiment from Red Rubber Designs, "Flutter By" unmounted stamp set.

I matted and layered the designs without embellishments creating lovely cards that will go easily through the mail without extra postage!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you enjoyed your visit!

Here's one last look at the oh, so fabulous Flutter By unmounted rubber stamp set:

Dream Layout

Instead of a photo, I decided to feature the Dream Cling Mounted Rubber Stamp from Red Rubber Designs on this layout, using some of my favorite colors!

The main image was stamped with black permanent ink onto watercolor paper that I colored with Lindy's Stamp Gang Magicals. I used all of stamps in the Dream set, fading some of the flower images into the background. Then I applied Mermaid Stickles over the darker black stamping, and Purple Stickles to the cardstock behind the image. To add even more shimmer, I machine stitched the layers together with metallic purple and teal specialty threads.

I used the same Magicals to color a piece of old lace, and glued it onto blackcardstock, with some punching around the edges, along with Black Stickles.

Again I used my Magicals to color all of the flowers, except for the purple roses, adding some buttons in between.

I used strips of purple, black, and green sheer ribbons across the bottom, to allow the lace to show through.

Turquoise Stickles were added to a greenish teal cardstock, used on the bottom layer to bring out all of the other colors.

Thanks for looking!

All Things of Nature

Hello, friends!  Wow, how can it be July already?  It's been a wild few weeks at our house, what with graduation, a vacation and college orientation!

I had a few "thank you" cards made up before graduation but as it turned out, not quite enough so I thought it would be fun to use All Things of Nature by Red Rubber Designs to create more.  The All Things of Nature unmounted stamp set includes six beautiful images and a sentiment that I thought would look great painted with the "Vintage Watercolor" technique.

The images were stamped in distress ink on watercolor paper then with a wet paint brush I painted in the images.  The photo below was the last card to be created and I think in some ways the best.  I used a hint of black intense pencil on all three cards.  For this card, the paper was nice and inky so the black moved into the vintage photo to give a wonderful sepia tone.  I also love the pinkish splatters on this one.

After the water colored images dried I stamped over the images with vintage photo distress ink once more to add detail back in.

The script was lightly spritzed with water which turned out to be troublesome as I ended up getting too much water on several cards and had to start all over! I found that stamping the script first then spritzing with water and after they dried then stamping the main image worked best.

Before I say good-bye let's take a look at
