Inspirational #138: Stamped Metal

     Welcome to Red Rubber Inspirationals!

We are excited to bring you a weekly challenge that will focus on stamping and related techniques to inspire and enable you to create art!

Inspirational #138: Stamped Metal

Deadline for submitting your projects is Wednesday, September 24th, at 11:59 PM U.S. Central time.

This is Drea hosting this week's Inspirational!
Our theme this week is Stamped Metal! Create some kind of metal on your stamping using inks, markers, colored pencils, mists, paints, or embossing powders. Be sure to let us know what metal or metals you've chosen, whether it's silver, pewter, iron, bronze, gold, or copper.

For complete Inspirational Rules, please read them here.

I made this card using gold, bronze, and iron, and embossed all of my stamping. The background was done using an old sewing pattern of mine, which I glued onto kraft cardstock. I cut up a real tape measure, as the colors were just right for this project. The sentiment, dressform, needle with thread, and the single buttons were stamped using the Sew Thoughtful set. The sewing machine, other buttons, and scissors were done with the Sew Thankful set. The black stitching along the bottom was done using Running Stitches. And finally, I used Reinforcers for the tag, which was made from muslin.

I hope you are inspired by my Inspirational this week and link up a newly created project to this post by the deadline! We look forward to seeing what you create!

Tutorial: Stamped Alpha/Text Background

I decided to break out my stamps and inks to create this layout for Lynda's Inspirational #137 ~ Just Text Me! I've been wanting to do a technique like this for awhile, so I thought I'd share my process with you.

I started by lightly misting some white cardstock with black, dark blue, and medium blue mists. Then I randomly stamped letters all over using the Alpha Grunge Set stamped with Versa Magic ink (Aspen Mist).

Then I repeated the process, stamping with Palette Ink (Cote d'Azure). Now you can start to see some dimension with the letters.

Next I used black ink to stamp the smaller letters and numbers using Background Soup, which is one my favorite stamps sets, and really is a must for anyone who likes to dabble in mixed media.

Then I used Palette Ink (L'Amore Red) to stamp the polka dots using Build-A-Background, which I also used to stamp the stars on the lightest blue cardstock. I created the checkerboard on red cardstock using Background Blocks.

You can consider it finished  now, or go a step further like I did, and add some masking with stencils and more ink. I added So Splattered and  Running Stitches. I also used the Alpha Grunge Set again to make part of my title, coloring the letters with some Prismacolor markers.

I hope you'll give this a try, and feel free to put your own spin on it! It really was fun to make!

Inspirational #137 - Just Text Me

Welcome to Red Rubber Inspirationals!
We are excited to bring you a weekly challenge that will focus on stamping and related techniques to inspire and enable you to create art!

Inspirational #137- Just Text Me

Deadline for submitting your projects is Wednesday, September 17 at 11:59 PM US Central time.

This is Lynda hosting this week's Inspirational!  Our theme this week is all about stamping text only on your project; so NO images; text only stamping!  Be sure we can tell where your text stamping is on your project and even give it a shout out in your blog write-up so we are sure to know where you stamped on your project!

For complete Inspirational Rules, please read them here.

Here are my projects based on our theme this week:

For my first card, I cut out the thought bubble using a die from the front of the card base.  I then stamped the sentiment from the Joyful Notes set in the space made by the die on the inside of the card.  I then used a black marker to go along the die shape to emphasize it.  I then used liquid pearls to outline the die shape on the card front.  I finished the card with this cute heart shaped button.

Since I had the Joyful Notes stamp set and die out I thought I would make a second card.  I cut the die shape from white cardstock.  I then stamped the sentiment on the cutout shape.  I then outlined the shape with black marker.  I added the shape to my card base using foam tape.  The card was finished with these cute flowers on the bottom.

Kendra created this wonderful project using stamps from the following sets:  Savvy Sayings, Sophisticated Sentiments, Contemporary Greetings, Trendy Greetings, and Happy Leaf.

I hope you can see how fun projects can be when you let the text take center stage!!!

I hope you are inspired by my Inspirational this week and link up a newly created project to this post by the deadline!  We look forward to seeing what you create!!

Inspirational #136: Favorite Stamping Technique

Welcome to Red Rubber Inspirationals!
We are excited to bring you a weekly challenge that will focus on stamping and related techniques to inspire and enable you to create art!

Inspirational #136 - Favorite Stamping Technique

Deadline for submitting your projects is Wednesday, September 10 at 11:59 PM US Central time.

This is Kendra hosting this week's Inspirational!
Our theme this week is Favorite Stamping Technique!

For complete Inspirational Rules, please read them here.

What is your favorite stamping technique?
Use that technique on your project, and share with us what technique you used!

It must be a Stamping Technique!

For my card today, I decided to use the Chalkboard Technique!
I am going to share this easy technique with you as well!

Collect your supplies:
You'll need:
Black Cardstock
VersaMark Ink
White Embossing Powder
Embossing Buddy
Embossing Heat Tool
Chalk
Stamps

Start by swiping your embossing buddy across your black cardstock to prevent any stray embossing powder from sticking to any unstamped areas.

Stamp your image of choice with VersaMark (or White Pigment Ink), in my case I started by stamping the Tulip from the Charcoal Flowers set!
Emboss with white embossing powder.

Then highlight your stamped images with white chalk to give the "chalkboard" feeling.
You can also use white colored pencils if you like, I just used chalk.

Pretty easy!!

Here is my finished card:
As you can see I also decided to add some colored chalk to the stamped tulip!

Both the sentiments I used are from the Wonderful News set.
And the stamped stitching is from the Running Stitches set.

Fun!

Happy Stamping!

I hope you are inspired by my Inspirational this week and link up a newly created project to this post by the deadline!  We look forward to seeing what you create!!
