Tutorial Tuesday: Create Handmade Tea Roses

Today I am sharing how I make my favorite roses. I receive so many compliments whenever I use them. Many have asked me how I make them so I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to share these easy but pretty little flowers.
Supplies Needed:
Tea Dye Distress Ink
Sizzix Tattered Pinecone Die
Die Cut Machine
Tweezers

Gather the above supplies

Cut Patterned paper to fit flower on die and run through die cut machine.

These are my die cuts. The far left one is plain card stock that has been sprayed.

Distress the edges of each die cut with distress ink. Ink script stamp with ink and stamp on top of die cut.

Take die cut and gently fold between each petal.

Starting from the outside of flower, take tweezers and roll the flower. The pattern should be on the inside of roll.

Roll the flower up tight.

Release the flower and allow the petals to relax.

Once you loosen the petals and get the flower to the shape you want, apply a little bit of glue to the bottom two petals. Press the base of the flower into the glue. This will keep the center and surrounding petals secure.

Use the tweezers to curl the petals down.

Here is what the flower looks like with a few of the petals curled.

The finished product. Add these beauties to your stamped card or project.

  1. Yup, you see you just don't get something that gorgeous without it being really fiddly, do you?! Fantastic tutorial, thank you... the pinecone is on my wishlist, moving up!

  5. Kate, I love your roses. I'll have to try them, although I don't have that die. But they are so pretty.
