Creating a new business has certainly been an interesting experience! There have been a multitude of delays, stumbling blocks and brick walls. Of course, there have been many good things, too. I'm very excited to be on this fabulous journey!
Back in September, I made the decision to open my store in January 2012 based on the assumption that I would receive inventory in October. We didn't get the inventory until the weekend before Thanksgiving, but I decided not to change the date - I was going for an opening in mid- to late January. I knew it would be a lot of work, but I was up to the challenge.
And our grand opening would be right on target, except for one thing: The state of Alabama. Seems that they're behind in recording business entity information. Several months behind, in fact. Why is this important? Well, if the state of Alabama doesn't recognize you as a "real" business (and they don't until they record your paperwork), no one else does either.
This presents several problems behind the scenes on things that customers don't normally see or are even aware of. But it prevents me from opening my business. Needless to say, I'm really bummed!
Based on the progress the state has made over the last few months (and there has been progress, albeit slow) it looks like I may be able to open sometime in February. What day exactly? I don't know. It really depends on the state. Once they record my paperwork, I have a few things I need to do and then we'll be good to go.
Believe me, as soon as I know - you'll know!
There is a silver lining, though: Because I now have more time to do inventory, there will be more products in the store when it opens than I had originally planned. This means more stamping goodness for you!
Many thanks for your patience. I hope to make it worth your wait!
Will wait patiently.......
ReplyDeleteI understand and I may be speaking for others who agree. But we are waiting patiently, excited and ready to shop! Thanks for letting us know.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it will be worth the wait!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update Pam, that gives me another month to restock my $$$ after Christmas. Looking forward to shopping with you!
ReplyDeleteHang in there! If you can be patient, so can we.
ReplyDeleteOhhh good. I'm with Wendy. This is just more time to save money for "rubber"!!! Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteYup we can wait, thanks for the info!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update. It's the pits when you have to wait on a government entity; they all seem to have one speed.....slower than a snail pace!! As Wendy said, the delay will allow us all to save a few extra $$$$.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update! Let's me save some more money in order to shop when you do open! :-)
ReplyDeleteI've waited this long, I guess another month or so won't matter! I'll keep checking back.
